About Us

Bobadilla Productions is an independent film production company that specializes in developing and producing feature films and TV series. Our goal is to create groundbreaking and thought provoking content, in English and Spanish, for both domestic and international markets.

We are especially passionate about telling Latine stories with a universal appeal in order to bring our unique perspective and rich cultures to a wide audience. Additionally, we aim to help erode the traditional stereotypes and barriers that are in place when it comes to Latine stories and talent by creating nuanced characters and intriguing stories that represent our diverse culture on the screen. By doing so, we hope to amplify Latine voices and increase our representation both in front and behind the camera.

Pablo Bobadilla

CEO and Founder

Director / Producer / WRIter

Pablo is a Dominican-American director and producer based out of New York City that focuses primarily on storytelling with a distinct point of view.  He holds a Bachelors in Filmmaking from the film school at University of North Carolina School of the Arts and a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University.  Pablo is an award-winning bilingual filmmaker who is fully determined to tell stories in both English and Spanish in order to connect with domestic and international audiences.  

He recently wrote and directed a TV pilot entitled Smoking Gun, which was a Semi-Finalist at the Cinequest Screenwriting Competition and an award winner at numerous film festivals.  Pablo also produced the indie horror film, Where’s Rose, which stars Ty Simpkins (Insidious: The Red Door).  The film had its international premiere at the Raindance film festival and it recently secured domestic distribution.

Additionally, Pablo produced two features films in 2024: Party USA, which stars Ainsley Seiger (Law & Order: Organized Crime) and an Argentinian horror film called The Devil Whispered My Name (Un Susurro Invoco Mi Nombre), which stars Argentinian Scream Queen, Clara Kovacic (Netflix’s The Crimes That Bind).


 

John Mathis

He recently wrote and directed a TV pilot John Mathis is an American director and writer living in London. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied filmmaking. He also holds an MFA in screenwriting from the London Film School. John has directed four feature films internationally, including the horror film Where’s Rose. The film premiered at the Raindance film festival and played in 130 theaters in the CIS territory before moving to VOD where it received millions of views. He also wrote the spec script Different for the late Oscar winner Peter Werner.

John is committed to creating impactful, high-quality stories across various genres, with a focus on narratives that spark meaningful conversations and resonate deeply with audiences around the world.

 

Barrett Jay

Head of Post-Production

Editor / Producer

With a decade of experience in post-production and five years as a professional editor, Barrett brings a deep passion for storytelling and a meticulous approach to the editing process. Trained at the National Film and Television School (NFTS)—widely regarded as the UK's premier film school—he has honed his craft in a rigorous, collaborative environment that mirrors the demands of the industry.​

Over the years, he has edited dozens of short films, three feature films, and several music videos, working across various genres and formats. His expertise extends beyond creative editing to encompass pipeline management and logistical coordination, ensuring seamless workflows from ingest to final delivery. Barrett thrives in dynamic, deadline-driven settings, where precision and narrative clarity are paramount.​

Driven by a genuine love for the art of editing, he is always eager to contribute to projects that challenge conventional storytelling and push creative boundaries.

 

Emilia Cotella

Head of Development

Director / Producer / Writer

Emilia Cotella is an award-winning Argentine director and screenwriter specializing in the horror genre. The Devil Whispered My Name is her directorial debut. Emilia received her MA in screenwriting from the prestigious London Film School.

Growing up in Argentina, Emilia experienced the rise of Argentinian horror and has predominantly worked in this genre throughout her filmmaking career. She considers herself a big fan of horror and understands that a good horror film needs to hit all the right marks in order to thrive in the genre.
